Oh, I am so in on this. ^_^

AD, when we send the guides to you prefer html format or would .txt be fine?

Doesn't really matter to me, but I'm just asking.

Damn me and my peanut of a brain.

I also wanted to know if it would be okay to write "The super-compound-newbie guide-compliment to xxx guide"

xxx guide being something like EADFAG... I know you're working on a newbie EADFAG, but would it be okay to do the super-compound-newbie version anyway? Just a thought.

As for other guides, what about a "New, up-to-date version of ABC guide", we would have to ask permission of the original guide's creator, right?

These aren't main site guides I am talking about here.

If you want to do a main site guide just like the ones that are in existence then you send them in as normal.

These are hints and tips guides - things from personal experience.

If you want to update a guide you should get in contact with the guide creator. All guides have to go through me, I get the final say.

If someone were to write a guide like this - sharing common problems and mistakes with the inexperienced amv maker - he could always ask for volunteers. Then he'd have vids to link as examples, and he could put a little disclaimer explaining that all of the creators mentioned gave their permission. It would also broaden the scope, so you'd see all sorts of 'wish I'd known' examples. Something like that wouldn't just be helpful, it would be interesting to read. ^_^
I'd volunteer my second vid. It has several really stupid technical mistakes which cause it to look choppy and such in places. So if anyone wants to write such a guide, contact me and I'll tell you all the things I botched.

...I mean this in all seriousness (my first vid is not going up even for this).

Of course, it's my say as to whether something goes in and I not allow any mini guides to do things like point at videos that suck or write about things in a rude or abusive manner. The mini guides should all be friendly.
You have just proved to me that the purpose of having power on the .org is to make my life miserable.

So, you want abusive and insulting guides?

By having the final word in the nature of the content, means that he can not only insure a relatively consistent look and feel for the guides as well as maintaining that they conform to .org standards (like no linking to downloaded footage, or songs) but also that they are not simply rips on crappy videos.

There are plenty of people that can whip out a readable guide in the space of a night, and some of them are not what you would call nice to newbies.

I've already sent him a copy of my mini-guide. It won't change the world or anything, but it should at least get some people used to some basic concepts and help them understand some underlying structure of songs in a way that can be used realistically.

Actually several people have seen what I've done. Some the complete form, but others got it in digest form through the process of OPs. By doing this, guides forum I can simply point to this instead of typing out musical theory everytime I do a review for someone that could use the advice.

I'm looking forward to seeing what some of the other users have come up with. So for all those guys, and gals that said they have ideas but need to send them in... the song goes;
"how about a little less talk and a lot more action!"

madbunny, I've been working on my mini-guide since I talked about it.

Only problem is, I don't think it's a mini-guide anymore...(More like comprehensive 0.o)

And no, it's not a newbiew view of so-and-so guide. =\

Hey, I don't know about anybody else, but if you can show me something new, I'm willing to listen.

Well, if for some paranoid reason(not saying that AD's paranoid) AD doesn't accept it, you can view the guide here.
