What is Project Org Editor?
Project Org Editor is an online AMV tournament held over the course of 2 months. During that time, participants compete in week-long preliminary rounds by creating AMVs that adhere to specific themes. Submitted videos are then judged on their portrayal of the theme, creativity, editing, and overall enjoyability. After the preliminaries, the top-scoring participants will then compete in the finals to determine this year’s Project Org Editor champion.

How does it work?
There will be 6 non-elimination preliminary rounds and 1 single-elimination final round. Editors can participate in as many preliminaries as they like, but are encouraged to take breaks, and skip rounds as they see fit. To be eligible for the finals, editors will need to participate in at least 3 preliminary rounds, and their top 3 scores will be added together to form their total score. The 5 participants with the highest total scores will then compete in the final round to determine the winner.

Prizes
The competition is hosted on AnimeMusicVideos.org, and receives prize sponsorship from MomoCon. The 1st place winner will receive a $100 cash prize, the 2nd and 3rd place winners will receive $50 and $25 respectively, and $25 will be awarded to preliminary round videos that receive Judges’s Choice awards for a total of $300 in total prizes. The top 5 participants and recipients of Judge's Choice awards will also receive a 4-day membership to MomoCon 2023.

Round 1 Challenge
Image
20 years ago, Disney celebrated Halloween by producing a direct-to-video animated movie called "House of Villains". During the film, villains like Jafar, Cruella de Vil, Ursula, and Hades teamed up to take over Mickey's House of Mouse theater club and threw the heroes of their stories out into the street. And so In honor of its 20th Anniversary, the round 1 theme of Project Org Editor 2022 shall be Villains!

To satisfy this theme, you must create a character profile AMV that centers around a villain or anti-hero. You're allowed to choose a character that isn't actually a villain within his/her canon universe, but your video must present them in a villainous light. The villainy of the character(s) that you choose should be the core concept of your video, and so your AMV should clearly demonstrate why we should regard them as a villain.

Round 2 Challenge
Image
For round 2, you'll need to create a video that combines multiple forms of media. Whether it's Live-Action, Manga, Cosplay, or various animation styles (Western, Japanese, CG, Stop-motion, etc), you'll need to edit a mixed-media video that utilizes 2 or more types to become something new. Please keep in mind that Live-Action sources are allowed only if you also combine them with a form of animation. Sources that naturally contain multiple media types are also allowed, but you'll be judged on how creatively YOU either combine or cut between them. So simply creating a multi-source or multi-media video might not be enough to satisfy the theme. Some Examples of videos that portray this concept are: Otaku Paradise, Great Responsibility, Cherish, Something Like This, It's Strange, Shanghai is so fun and Paperheart.

Round 3 Challenge
Image

Rugrats was an iconic animated television series that focused on a group of toddlers named Tommy, Chuckie, Phil and Lil, Angelica, Susie, Kimi, and Dil. For 9 seasons, it showcased their imaginative adventures and used the challenges of children learning about and misinterpreting the world around them as a common theme. It even received a sequel series called "All Grown Up!", which focused on their adolescent years and common issues of preteens and teenagers.

For round 3, you'll need to create a video that highlights the wonders and struggles of being a child, and the inevitability of growing up. With that in mind, simply using footage with children protagonists may not be enough to satisfy the theme. Some Examples of videos that portray this concept are: Turning Out Red, Gadget Escapade, The Creationist, Yearbook. and Dream the Impossible

Round 4 Challenge
Image

What kind of Pokémon are you?
How do you do the things you do?
Share with me your secrets deep inside.

For round 4, you'll need to create an AMV that embodies one of the 18 types of Pokémon. Using footage of Pokémon isn't required to satisfy the theme, so the core concept of your video should be the characteristics of whatever type that you choose. The full list of Pokémon types can be found here: Pokemon Types Wiki

Please note that although you're allowed to select multiple Pokémon types as your theme, doing so isn't recommended.

Dungeons & Dragons (commonly abbreviated as D&D or DnD) is a fantasy tabletop role-playing game (RPG) that allows players to design their own unique characters that then become their identities during the game. They do this by picking characteristics like species and alignment and assigning ability scores, which consist of Strength, Constitution, Dexterity, Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma. The game also utilizes a luck factor by requiring players to roll various dice to determine outcomes.

Round Challenge
For round 5, you'll need to create a video that embodies one of the 7 ability types from Dungeons & Dragons. Showcasing the gameplay or fantasy elements of D&D isn't required to satisfy the theme, so the core concept of your video should be the characteristics of whatever type you choose. You'll only be able to select a single ability type on the submission form. So even if your video features multiple, you'll need to prioritize one type over all the others. The complete list and explanation of all the ability types can be found here: Dungeos & Dragons Ability Score List

The "Voyages Extraordinaires" (Extraordinary Voyages) is a collection of novels and short stories by the French writer Jules Verne. Some of the most well-known of these stories include classics like "Journey to the Center of the Earth", "Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea", and "Around the World in Eighty Days". According to Verne's editor, the goal of Voyages was "to outline all the geographical, geological, physical, historical and astronomical knowledge amassed by modern science and to recount, in an entertaining and picturesque format ... the history of the universe."

Round Challenge
For round 6, you'll need to create a video that exemplifies the pursuit of adventure, exploration, and discovery. Referencing or showcasing the aesthetics of works by Jules Verne is not required, so your concept should be focused on the theme of these works as a whole. You should also not expect the judges to be familiar with the entirety of the Voyages Extraordinaires series, so basing your video on context exclusive to specific titles (especially lesser known ones) may not be enough to satisfy the theme.

Sponsored by MomoCon
The editor of the top-scoring video of this round will also receive a special MomoCon prize pack consisting of a 4-day Membership to MomoCon 2023, a T-Shirt, and other MomoCon branded merchandise. Editors are also encouraged to send their videos to MomoCon's 2023 AMV Contest which is giving out $1200 in prizes and a special "Extraordinary Voyages: MomoCon Theme award".

Round Challenge
Congratulations to Piffle Sniffle AMV (Xophilarus), TheLazyDaze, PantsAMV, James Blond and Violet Skies for making it to the finals! For this round, you'll need to create a video that demonstrates the nature of competition! Whether you do this by showcasing a fierce rivalry, a battle of wits, or a struggle between opposing forces, your video should be able to express the meaning of "Competitiveness: the desire to do better than others in an activity". So simply showing a conflict may not be enough to satisfy the theme. There are many ways to portray this, so we encourage you to be creative, take risks and show us what you got! The editor with the highest total score for this round will be crowned the 2022 Project Org Editor Champion!
