I've been following the A&E/Read ErMaC & AbsoluteDestiny's Friendly AMV Guides guide as I attempt to get the footage for my first AMV, particularly this page. Ripping from the DVD using SmartRipper and getting the VOB files went off without a hitch. I then used DVD2AVI to make a D2V file, as the guide says. next, I used an AVISynth script, as described in the guide, to be able to load the D2V into VirtualDub. to the best of my knowledge, everything I've done so far has been to the exact specifications of the guide.
however, I am now running into problems. first, the file that shows in VirtualDub has very poor color (looks almost like 256 colors), is heavily interlaced (I know there are instructions about how to remove this, but I haven't gotten to that yet) and tends to stop-and-start - it's jerky video. I'm not sure what I might have done wrong to cause these problems, but I'd appreciate any input - I'm getting a little frustrated, 'cause I want to make my AMVs!
on a side note, I do have another program that will go directly from DVD to AVI, it's called FreeUse. the quality seems to be fine from what I've seen. however, it would take nearly eight hours or so to rip a single episode, so I'm reluctant to use this method if I can get the same quality footage from a less time-consuming source.
my thanks in advance for your help, and I'll furnish as much other information as I can about the hardware and software I'm using if it's needed.
