Problems with adobe premiere pro

Post by Drache » Wed Sep 27, 2006 4:21 pm

ok, i imported a fansub xvid video file into adobe premiere pro, it plays fine. as soon as i take a scene and place it in my project the video goes black, yey, the audio works fine.

I do the exact same thing into windows movie maker, and it works perfectly, both the audio and the video plays fine.

What i want to know is:

A: What is wrong, and how can i fix it.
or
B: Is there another video editing program with as much potential as Adobe premiere?

You need to encode it in another format.
Xvid and Divx don't work in most editing programs

Yes: check out the Software List sticky at the top of this board. But that doesn't mean you should be using MPEG-4 ASP footage with them either, for the reasons explained in the page I linked to above.

Ummm, I think you're either better off converting that episode. Or just running it thru AviSynth.

No, he's better off buying the DVDs.
And God spoke unto the Chicken, and He said: "Thou shalt crosseth the road", and the Chicken did cross the road, and there was much rejoicing.

I dunno why you have probelmes with Xvid and Premier. Ive bee using Premier Pro for a while and I have never had problems with Divx and Xvid. I just import them and they work.

Consider yourself lucky.

It's like saying that you've been smoking cigarettes for a while and haven't had any health problems. :P Many people have used XviD/Divx video in Premiere for a stretch then the get one that is encoded a bit differently or something and it refuses to work.

But I'll agree with everyone else here that recommends using DVDs if at all possible. The quality difference is noticable. If the anime is not available on DVD, then converting to Huffyuv or Lagarith is the other alternative.
Having trouble playing back videos? I recommend: Image
