That's true, but the clip-getting part of the editing process isn't really skippable, and I'd prefer doing it in one go rather than having to rerip DVDs when I find a clip I want and didn't take originally.
For Step 6, I was thinking of taking the line blankclip(length=,width=[whatever],height=[whatever],fps=[whatever]) and copying and pasting and filling in as necessary. This would be done after all the clip selection, so I wouldn't even need to refer back to the video. Taking clips is the time-consuming part, and that's something that has to be done.
What I would suggest instead is searching through the clips before you edit and encoding the sections you need to Lagarith right away.
I'm not very good at that (I spent a while making clips in MEP of the Eva movie. In the end, most of the clips I used were ones I'd discarded). If I were, I wouldn't need to fiddle about with bait and switch. Anyway, if I know I'm going to use a certain scene, why would I go ahead and rip the DVD unless I knew I wasn't going to need anything from that vob?
Can anyone recommend somewhere that ships to the UK and carries cheap external hard drives? My laptop will take 80GB at most, and laptop hardware is bloody expensive.
