interlacing/flicker problem in premiere?

Post by otbwavelength » Fri Nov 25, 2005 1:23 am

i'm using premiere, 5.0, windows xp.

whenever i try to use "cross dissolve" transition to transition between two frames, it always seems to have a frame from the PREVIOUS clip intersect into the next clip about three frames after said previous clip is already gone from the timeline.

Code: Select all

---------------|
first clip |
---------------|
    |transition|
    |----------------------------------|
    | second clip |
    |----------------------------------|

also, when transitioning between clips, if i have a lighting effect at any point, for ex.

Code: Select all

|--|------|
|x | o |
|--|------|
x = part of clip that is at 100% brightness
o = part of clip that has no effects on it

when going to and from said 100% lighted clip, it always has lines going through the clip, almost like interlacing, for the first frame of it.

this happens even if i use checkpoints/timer etc.

any idea why this happens or how to fix it? thanks bunches

maybe instead of using the transition just try using keyframes and the opacity setting and see if that works.

i don't think you get what i mean.. i want the frames to blend into each other, even when i use the keyframes only it still does this flickering.

uh.. the quicktime format i'm using is uncompressed; it's at about 55MB per minute. if i converted to huffy uv, it would be way too much to edit with, becuase i have to use entire 8 and 9 second clips; premiere would eat a massive bag of shit.

true, but i think it's something i'm doing because it'll do this on divx format, uncompressed format (avi), etc. with different videos as well, anime OR real life etc.
