Ok.
I'm trying to improve myself....cause Windows Movie maker just doesnt have enough of what I want. I'm trying premirie pro and maybe after effects.
I have alot of videos in which when i load it to adobe pro it will show up on the 1st video player...but not the 2nd one when i try to add it to the timeline.
I believe codec is my problem.
my 2nd problem is file types.
I have weird file types like ogm and mkv. does anyone know a program which will convert to mpg or avi.
and last question if i work with adobe pre. pro and after effects. Which video type would be best.
so in a nut shell:
1. How can i fix the codec problem
2. is there a program which can convert ogm and mkv
3. which is better for my video editer Avi or mpg?
4. If there is a video program which does all this...is there a guide or someone kind enough to help me a bit to understand it.
...i really wanna improve ^^
Codec problems I think

1. The problem is most likely that Premiere doesn't like your file types. This happens alot when using Divx or Xvid clips in premiere, you can use avisynth to load this clips properly but you still really should be using avisynth or loseless compressed video for editing.
2. I don't know if there is, but like I said above, better to use lossless compressed clips.
3. Depends on how AVI is compressed, so can't really answer.
4. Read ErMaC & AbsoluteDestiny's Friendly AMV Guides is a good place for you to start, if you really want to make better amv's, understand how to rip your dvd's and use those files in premiere, then go from there.

It does support OGM last I checked.Zaphod_Beeblebrox wrote:Furthermore: I'm pretty sure that VDubMod has support for .mkv files, but i don't know about .ogm, i'm sure someone else knows, just sit tight ^_^;
I should probably take this opportunity to point out this helpful page that was just created today (not by me):

Everyone please feel free to add more helpful content. I can easily see it becoming more complete and better structured than the advice found on the fora, plus the URL is easier to remember than that of any forum post.

Ok i'll try and check those all out tomorrow. I remember i tried Vdub once..and i was so confused.
also people say i should only cut clips that i need because if i try to send it all through one of those programs it will become too large...
but how can i edit it if i cant edit on premirie....will that program let me?
and what would you say is the easiest losless program i should use?
