do a google search for a program called "EO video", you can use it to convert the realmedia files to avi for editing.

We don't reccomend real media files for anything. Even using high bitrate divx files is pushing it. Your best bet is to check out the guide on < a href="http://homepage.mac.com/red_wolf/">Red Wolf's homepage</a>.

Also you have a iMac. However, it's still a Macintosh computer(same processor as other Macs). You're running OS 9.2, not iMac 9.2.

oh stfu klinky ;P realmedia is a preferred medium for those who don't dig the XviD thing and its the only thing that'll deliver as good quality.
anyhow it seems her source came in realmedia, not that she encoded it that way purposely :/

While Real maybe as nice looking as Xvid or DivX5, do you actually reccomend it over them ^_^ ???

I would rather have a nice AVI file that'll play in my media player of choice rather then clunko RM file that only plays in lamo RealPlayer.

Actually as a format I reccomend ogg/ogm for a lot of reasons, though it is a shame that realaudio and video are only decodable in realplayer. Although that never really bothered me, as I don't use any special player (wmp 6.4 for ogg stuff and wmp 9 for most everything else :/ ). So I'd have to say as far as reccomendations go I'd say
Format: Ogg - mostly for the vorbis, built in chapter & subs capabilities
Video: XviD/Real9 - both since sometimes one will give better results than the other
Audio: RealAudio 8 - good quality at a mere 64 kbps, amazing stuff

Unfortunately that sort of combination is impossible. So, I make do with either RealVideo and Audio scripted to SMIL or Ogg with vorbis and XviD.

:? It all still confuses me. My Imovie takes only .dv files. I would use Quicktime Pro, But can we say glitch city. It may me A mac program but it is not user friendly. It destroys many other programs so all I can deal with is the quicktime player. :?

The darn computer does not even like it when I just change the file name to dv. The file shows in Imovie but is nothing but a load of fog, static, just no picture. UGGGHHH..

If I could help it I would have been able to get other files but I couldn't And I cannot get other files, I have access to all of SailorMoon and Gundam Wing among more than I can count. But they are all .RM files, I had gotten my sources from a friend and that was all she could come accross. I would try primier but my MAC will not let me open the file after download it just freezes, and That file had also goofed up more stuff then I could deal with.

Any More Suggestions?
