.avi player woes

Post by spacedust » Fri Feb 04, 2005 3:33 am

I'm curious what is a good .avi player.
My current windows media player for my now clunky 450mhz win 98se will play the audio in time but will only give occasional stills/ 2-3 seconds of motion with my .avis and my divX plays the video fine it seems but the audio always ends about 1/3 of the way through my .avi. perhaps the video might be slowing down by a lil over 50%

I do have a speed enhancing program called enounce but It only pops up when I try windows media player and even then I can't adjust the speed (.1-2.5 x regular speed) my quicktime really dosen't want to be bothered with .avis and says no updates exist. Are there any more reliable player programs out there that won't burn a hole in my depleted pocket. I think there is one update I could get for DivX but I believe it costs.

If this is placed in the wrong forum sorry, it seemed like the best bet at the time.

Well you could try "Media Player Classic" located here -----------------------> http://sourceforge.net/project/showfile ... _id=227046

You may also want to use the latest release of the "ffdshow" codec over using divx, it is easier on system resources. ------------------------------------------>

Make sure to download the proper version for your processors capabilities.

Here are more versions of the ffdshow codec in case the latest one does not suit you. --------------------------------------------------------------------------->

If you do decide to download "Media Player Classic" be sure to get the one for Win98 and ME. If you are going to install it on the computer you mentioned in your post. :)
