You mean like this?

You can work AVIsynth through a text editor and what not.
It doesn't have a actual program interface of its own.

Read here to learn about it.

bum wrote:besides me forgeting to de-interlace, my latest vid looks fine :P . And its not like minion said they were gona be doing any editing with the footage. She/he could simply want to back-up thier dvd's.
I believe the larger issue is that bum is borderline psychotic, masquerades on Internet forums alterately as either male or female, and indiscriminately says whatever he believes will draw attention to himself, rather than give out any factual information.

In that light, never believe anything that bum says.

somethings messing up here.
i made a dv2 file called naruto1.dv2
then i made a avs file called naruto1.avs with this in notepad:

&nbsploadplugin("C:\Program Files\AviSynth 2.5\plugins\DGDecode.dll")
&nbspmpeg2source("naruto1.d2v")

so then i try opening it, and no luck. it says:
script error: syntax error
(c:\ping_llp\video_ts\naruto1.avs, line 1, comumn 1)

did i mess up big, or is there some tiny detail i messed up on?

the &nbsp is just html gone wild

what I'm wondering is should DGDecode be in there...the version on the amvapp already has mpeg2dec3.dll and decomb.dll on the avs filters directory..so they should be loading automatically no?

so shouldn't the script just say mpeg2source("etc..")

I'm probably very wrong considering today was the first day I started using avisynth...I just wanted to try to contribute something;_;

Do you have Xvid installed? The issue might be that it cant find YV12 decompressor, and Xvid could handle that.
Get "Latest stable binary" from here: http://www.koepi.org/xvid.shtml

i forgot that this is a new computer, so i dled k-lite codec pack, and it worked.
so then i use virtual dib, and save it as a AVI. watching it create the file, i noticed it was taking up about 20 gigs at the halfway point, so i aborted, and deleted the 23 gig file.
was it supposed to do this? it would have been close to 50 gigs when it finished. hows this possible? the original VOB was just under 1 gig. i've never seen a 50 gig AVI file. did i do something wrong?

If you saved it using uncompressed AVI, that sounds perfectly normal. You normally want to compress the file with a lossless codec such as HuffYUV or Lagarith though. Or if you are using Adobe Premiere, you can use the AVS plugin to import your avs files directly without saving an avi.
