how do i watch videos on 4:3
all of my videos are displayed in 16:9 and that leaves a bit of space on the screen which i don't like seing...
soooo
i have core player and each video i play i change to 4:3 but it's pissing me to do that to each vid i play
how do i change my codec or pc or software settings to always play a movie/vid on 4:3?
plz help cause im kinda tired of changing it each time
besides that
can anyone tell me what are the best configurations for the codec decoders?
i mean xvid decoder and divx decoder and all that...
you have those options like if to enable Deblocking (UV) and Deblocking (Y)
and compatibility renderer and all that stuff
how should i modify it?

if a video is created in 16:9 (widescreen) then thats how it should be. changing it to 4:3 will ony make all the characters look 8 feet tall. like i was once, irght now you hate widescreen and would rather watch streched characters. but bear with it, soon you'll realy love it. mainly because the viewing angle is more natural in 16:9 and your eye's are beter acustomed to it than they are with 4:3 footage. close one of your eye's and look around with the other. thats how the world would look in 4:3.

All of them? o.Oshishlik wrote:...all of my videos are displayed in 16:9...
Are these videos you've made yourself? If so, then you need to stop producing the videos to 16:9 - use vdub and a resize script if you have to. How are you making the vids? [Programs you use, codecs, etc.]
If you've downloaded amvs from here, and somehow every single one of them is turning up as 16:9, I'd say it's your video player stretching them - not the original video being in a strange format. Try this, check one of the vids in VirtualDub and find out what the aspect ratio is *supposed* to be, then compare that to what it's registering as in your player. That will tell you where the problem is. [Note: I say this because with certain codecs, Windows Media Player stretches videos this way while other players show it the way it is - it's not the same problem since it's a particular mpg codec to blame, but it stands as proof that a player can 'rewrite' the ratio without asking first.]
I've never heard of 'Core Player', so I can't tell you how to fix that. But you might try your Windows Media Player (if you have a windows computer), or Winamp3 (which accurately shows videos that WMP stretches - those 'off' mpg codecs). There are lots of players you can try out.
The only other reason I can think of for your vids *all* being stretched to 16:9 would be if you have some crazy resolution set on your computer. But you'd notice that. >.>

i think i didn't explain myself correctly...Arigatomyna wrote:

16:9 isn't the only thing that bugs me... it's those two black lines that even when they're very small bug me.
not only in 16:9 but in other aspect ratio's
when the video is displayed on a window it's completly full but when i use full screen i see two little black lines at the bottom and at the top.
i have the following codecs installed on my pc:
xvid en/de
divx en/de
ac3
ffdshow
divx
and more....
but those are the ones i frequently update and are most aware of...(from video codecs...)
is anything wrong with one of them?

no lines
how do i find the aspect ratio?
now i also said ;up; that when the video is windowed it doesn't have black lines.
about using other players
i tried windows media player and got the same reasolts
same with winamp and windows media classic(the new one)
o.k i checked and my resolution is 1024 X 1280Arigatomyna wrote: The only other reason I can think of for your vids *all* being stretched to 16:9 would be if you have some crazy resolution set on your computer. But you'd notice that. >.>

Re: how do i watch videos on 4:3
What's the resolution of the video (720x400, 352x240, 480x368, etc.)? This doesn't seem like 16:9 footage, since 16:9 footage put on fullscreen looks the same as when you watch a widescreen movie on your TV - the black bars are fairly medium size.shishlik wrote:when the video is displayed on a window it's completly full but when i use full screen i see two little black lines at the bottom and at the top.
It seems more like this is a matter of trying to watch 3:2 aspect video instead, since those bars are much smaller.
