DVD to AVI. Can anyone help me get the best results.
Im using Super DVD Riper to convert DVD to AVI. Can anyone help me get closer to DVD quality with the compression. I try messing with DivX Pro(tm)5.1.1 Codec in the Video Compression option, but I always end up with a low frame rate, and bad video quality conversion. Can anyone hook me up with some tips to fix this problem. Programs, Techniques or just anything you could offer. Thnx.

Okay, in the GUIDES accesable through the main page, you will find Abslute Destiny and Ermacs guide to all things audio and video.
Follow it to the letter and it will tell you how to make videos with DVD level quality.
There are several methods mentioned, so you can choose what works best for you. It might seem hard the first couple of times, but it's actually easier than it reads.
As for your question - in general avoid high compresison codecs like divx, don't edit with it for sure, and use the best source material you can get your hands on. The guides assume that you will be ripping DVD footage if you can.

Im trying to take clips from the dvds, with an automatic conversion. Not the entire DVD onto my hard drive. I don't see anything in there that talked about that. My program could go through a DVD and take out single clips with an automatic conversion to avi, svcd, and vcd. Do you know anything about programs like that, and how to make conversions turn out well?madbunny wrote:x_rex30 wrote:Im using Super DVD Riper to convert DVD to AVI. Well, actually smart ripper can take chapters, file, .vob's specifiy various file sizes.
If you don't want to do that, then try saving your files to Huffyuv format, it's a lossless codec so you won't lose any quality. Your major trade off is going to be large files. But you want quality, that's the price.
the codec is available at www.doom9.org
Luck
