Adobe Premier Problem

Post by [*Xen^Bob*] » Sun Jun 01, 2003 6:12 pm

I have the trial for adobepremier 6.0..I still have a good time left on my trial...

But when I put my clips together, It won't play them....I can click to view a clip at a time..but that has the original sound..I have made videos with this trial..and well..I don't recall reconifiguring anything that would cause a reaction such as this!
Probably a simple problem..but those are the hardest for me to figure out.

Have some patience, all the knowledgeable people are still hung over from the weekend.

Help us out here a bit, can you provide more detail?

For example:
  • Are you rendering the timeline before you try and play it?
  • Can you play a single clip, on its own, in the timeline?
  • What codecs are the source clips in?
  • What codec have you configured Premiere to edit in?
  • When you click on play what happens - does it play but its black, or do you
  • get an error?
  • Etc.
We are happy to help but we just need a little context to work with...

Actually given the con activity over the weekend, I think Jbone is closer to being accurate as to why there haven't been any answers yet. I believe the vast majority of us still use Premiere.

I personally don't totally understand what you're saying. You've put the clips you want down on the timeline, you have the audio for the AMV on the audio track, and have unlinked and deleted the original audio from the source clips (if you're making an AMV, you really shouldn't be having to worry about this part- you should have captured/ripped/converted just the video and not the audio). And when you hit 'enter' to render and preview or just hit the space bar to play it, nothing happens (with the timeline as the active window)?

Glad you got it fixed!

Which programs are better for editing than Premiere is pretty much purely opinion. Most people, I believe, will agree that Final Cut Pro and Avid are better, and some people prefer programs such as Cinerella or Magix. If you're comfortable with and can work well with Premiere, stick with it. For the most part, it's probably the best general program for AMV editors to be using (in Windows). FCP and Avid are aimed more at video pros and either have rather steep price tags and/or are Mac-only (not a problem if you're using a Mac, but since I get the impression most here are using PCs...).
