ooh ok, ur talkin about the white flashes.. that's an awesome vid too.
if ur using Premiere, what u wanna do is create a white matte. go to File - New - Color Matte..., and u can choose any color u want. for pure white, click on the very top of the color map; or type 255 next to Red, Green, and Blue. now superimpose this matte in tracks 2 or above, and place ur video footage in any track below it. to the left of whatever track ur matte is in, click the Collapse/Expand Track button; it looks like a little grey arrow. ur matte track should now unfold to double its size, and a red rubberband should be running across it. click and drag the ends of these rubberbands about halfway down from their initial position. u can keep them at the very top if u wanna, but a pure flash hurts some ppl's eyes.. and there u have it.
just copy and paste these mattes to different parts of ur timeline to repeat the effect. for a really fast series of flashes, u might wanna try out the Strobe feature in the Premiere fx pallete. it's in Video - Stylize - Strobe Light. drag this effect to ur vid, and set the options accordingly in the Effect Controls palette. for me, this effect doesn't work for me good.. but it may for u.
