XVID_error, yay!

Post by Thyrius » Wed Feb 23, 2005 10:06 am

Just finished with my new kickass AMV and life could only be slightly better right now. :D
So now I want to use virtual dubmod to give it that sec pass Xvidencode it always wanted. However I get a error saying "Stats not found" and when I press ok I get another, longer one saying "cannot start video compression: The operation is not supported(error code -1)"

I have tried to change the file inte huffy and RGB(unpressed) no improvment

Just curious, where is your stats file supposedly located? Click on the "more..." button when you have "Twopass - 2nd pass" selected as the encoding type.

Usually, "stats not found" means exactly what it says it means, i.e. "cannot find the stats file".

Hmm, it seems the file video.pass should be located in the "The Core Mediaplayer"-folder .. but its not :/
hows should I fix this then? :o

If you didn't encode a 1st pass ("2-pass (first pass)" mode) and set it to save the stats file in that directory, you won't have one there.

And now I understand. It works now. All I needed to do was encode a 1st pass once before I could you the 2pass.. becouse it needed the video.pass file, huh? Oh Im still kinda confused but a bit happier. My problems are only starting here though cuz the file size wont go below 129 mb :/
Any1 got any tricks that could help out?

The second pass comes after the first pass.

The first pass generates a statistics file that tells the second pass how to optimize bit distribution. You need to generate a first-pass file, and then make the second pass. Think of pass 2 as an optimization.

By the way, your question is completely answered by this:

http://www.animemusicvideos.org/guides/ ... tqual.html is a good place to start. If you have further questions, provide frame samples, or something with more substance than "any1 got any tricks".
