Priemere Black Screen
This problem only seems to happen with Xvid encoded avi's. Never has happened to me before. It plays audio, but it shows nothing but a blank screen for video output. Any Ideas? Been searching the forums for a few days trying to find a solution. And converting 200meg files to 4gig files or so isn't a very good solution in my opinion. As it seems tho, divx files work just fine. It just seem to be xvid that is giving me problems. I have fixed it before a long long time ago, but for the life of me. I can't remember how i fixed it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Premiere doesn't like XviD/DivX encoded clips. Sometimes they'll work, sometimes they won't.
These clips are bad quality anyway. You're going to have to convert it to a different file type, or try using real footage instead of downloaded.
If you did rip the footage yourself, try taking the d2v file into Vdub and exporting it as an MPEG4 V2 at it's highest settings. About 1/4 the size of huffys, and you only lose a small amount of quality. Good for small hard drives.
I'll give a link to the codec later, as its on my favorites on my home computer, and I can't find it for the life of me otherwise.
