Um, you need the Pro version that costs $350 for any kind of analog input. Plus those cards are more intended for the use with HD cameras. Basically they are used to record the signal straight from the sensor to get full pixel size and quality. Component video isn't going to benefit you much more than s-video will. Once you step up from composite, you should be fine. My vote is still for the Canopus/Grass Valley external boxes. They are PC and Mac compatible and can also be used to run external monitors for preview.Chemikilla wrote:http://www.blackmagic-design.com/products/intensity/ for $250
I've seen some stuff capped in HD with it and the quality was perfect

I'm not sure why the ADVC-55 is almost the same price, since it is gimped on the features of the ADVC-110. These of course use a FireWire connection, so you'll be needing that. Plus I'm sure you can find even cheaper prices if you look around or buy used.
However, looking at jasper-isis' examples, that looks pretty good for very inexpensive hardware. It all depends on how much use you'll get out of it. If you only need it for a small project, go cheap. If you plan on capturing stuff fairly frequently, want slightly higher quality, and want more features, I'd go in the $200 plus range.
