how to get best quality in ripping with dvd decryter

Post by Osakaisthebomb » Sat Aug 30, 2008 2:48 pm

Starting watching lucky star on my laptop and was enjoying how perfect the video look. used dvd decrypter to test and see if the video look as clear in the editing program. no luck. Edges were choppy. I used DGIndex as well which gave similar results. So I was wondering if this is normal or is the some setting to get a better looking clip?

I tried the guide on the .org but It made little since to me.

some people filter their footage with avisynth between the rip the dvd and throw it in the editing program phase... this usually cleans up the wrong aspect ratios and the weird edges cause people usually resize and crop while filtering.

hmm...makes sense. How do you make a avy file for a file that ends in .vob which is how my ripped footage saves?

you know how to use avisynth?

stick the vobs in dgindex, and index them, then create anavisynth filter that directs to the d2v file and open that avs file in Virtualdub Mod and clip from there process described in better detail here

I used to know but forgot all the codes to put in.

*checks link* thats the exact page that I had trouble understanding. like the "ASPI Layers drivers test " link didn't make sense to me.

Anywho what I need to know is the codes you put into the avy file that will ensure it will work. Last time I just did the avysnith file with the direct code to the d2v and it wouldn't open it.

You gotta throw it in VDubMod, then export a lossless.

just got version 1.8 or something like it. But none of the files after using dgindex show up as usable files.

d2v files are usually put into an avisynth script
mpeg2source("path to your d2v file here")

you can add other filters and parameters to your script now or later (whenever you feel like adding them, though if you plan to deinterlace/IVTC you should do it before editing)

save the .avs and open the .avs with vdubmod

first time I saved it as a avs it saved correctly and even the icon changed. Tried opening it up in vdubmod, didn't work, and suddenly the file changed back to a notepad read only file and wouldn't save anyother way.
