(Man, I hope this is in the right place.)
Here's the problem, my last computer after years of semi-reliable service finally refused to read blank CD-Rs and CD-RWs. Wouldn't burn or anything.
I recently go a new computer and the exact same problem showed up. Nero works fine, but working through Windows Explorer results in 'There is no CD in the drive' messages.
I had AMV App and all on both computers, so I was wondering if there's any known problems with the way the software interacts with the Windows operating system or anything else.
Any other ideas as to what's going on would be nice too. The computer is currently in the shop so they can find out if it's hardware or software related.

I have been using the AMVApp for years without a problem. It must be something else... I trust that the new computer is completely new (ie the CR-R is not your old one you decided to keep). I have heard that some older versions of Nero had problems with win XP's bundled cd burning feature (onle one of the two would work).
This is probably a long shot but try uninstalling Nero (or even re-format) and see if the problem appears. Appart from that I have no clue. Definately we're talking about s/w conflict so it might be something else (appart from Nero or AMVApp)

Well I did uninstall Nero and reinstalled a newer version (you were right, I had an older version with known compatability issues). The problem was still there so either that wasn't the problem or it was but the uninstall didn't fix it.
Thanks for the tip. ^_^

.. have you tryed to re-install Win2K-XP-Vista? This is not a add-on software issue; this is an Operating Systems Issue. Your Operating System is not recognizing the CD/DVD Drive. Your Operating System could care less if the Disc is Blank -or- has something on it; and yours isn't even doing that right! T_T
.. Re-install your Operating System.
