DVD Copyright Protection
DVD Decrypter won't work decrypt my DVD. I'm pretty sure it's got some copyright protection on it. Anyone know how to get around this?

what dvd is it?
all dvds have copyright protection...and dvd decrypter is meant to get around that protection.
some companies are putting better protection on their dvds, so if it's a brand new, hot off the press, mass produced 2 days ago (i know this is an exaggeration(sp) but it makes the point clear) dvd you might run into this problem.

I had a similar problem with a totally different application. This may be a long shot, but have you tried ripping different "titles"? Mine hung whenever I tried to decrypt Lain, until I discovered that I was ripping Title 1, which was only the DVD menus. In my case, only Title 2 contained the actual video footage. It's worth a shot.

Well, it kinda is "hot off the presses". It's the Narnia DVD that came out on Tuesday. DVD Decrypter says "Abnormal program termination" when I try to open it.Kariudo wrote:what dvd is it?

well I wouldn't be suprised if it has the new protection measures on it (it is hollywood after all, but 90% of the junk they spit in our faces is even worthy of being ripped [imo])
after a little bit of searching I think I found a good one

this one was created/updated after dvd decrypter had to stop
...unfortunately this one was forced to stop too, but at least they got some newer features in.
and the download still works
hope this helps

How the hell do you expect 'them' to add new copyright protection in a format that's been locked in an unchangeable standard since 1996? Cause here's a shocker, DVD players from 1996 can play all DVDs made in 2006. It's part of the whole 'standards' thing.Kariudo wrote:well I wouldn't be suprised if it has the new protection measures on it (it is hollywood after all, but 90% of the junk they spit in our faces is even worthy of being ripped [imo])
