Capturing Progressive Video in Adobe Premiere?

Post by y2kwizard » Thu Oct 03, 2002 9:50 pm

Hello all. I'm sorry for posting such a newb question, but I'm just hitting a brick wall here.

I've got a Sony TRV-17 camera that says it records in Progressive mode, so theoretically I won't have to deal with all that messy field junk. However, whenever I capture my video in Premiere, i get this awful result: whenever I pause playback in Premiere or in my final export, each frame seems to be a blend of two different pictures...this would seem to be fields, maybe? There's no combing effect, as far as I can tell, just this mixing of two pictures for every frame.

Does anyone have any clue as to what I can do to get Premiere to capture correctly? I've no clue what's going on.

Thanks a lot, guys![/u]

My guess is that it RECORDS progressive, as in it records stuff that you film with the camera, not tapes or DVDs that you pass through it.

I don't know though, I never really used a DV camera.

Interesting theory. Does anyone else have any idea about this?

well yea obviously it wont ivtc a tape or dvd for you, although it might cause it to be captured progressive while still interlaced which would be bad
