I've never tried out really good cards but Pinnacle makes good stuff. The card should have a normal antenna input (normal), composite input (better) and S-VHS input (used nearly only on DV-cameras, which gives you the best quality). Important is that the card supports Virtual Dub and the resolution you're going to capture. The quality is very good on most cards, it depends more on your input (VHS, TV or Game) and settings which quality will come out. That's the reason why the card should support virtual dub because the most enclosed capture programs will only allow to make a few settings.
