It said that free distribution needs to stop. I guess AMVapp needs to be shut down then.

sorry... I was blind to the edit

... but still... it would be a bit of hassle to take decrypter out just so we could replace with another ripper that does the exact same thing

If anyone downloaded the trail. How exactly can I make these .vob files seeing as the guides seem to apply mostly to this file type.

...it rips to DivX .avi's?

... totally don't do that.

everyone will tell you DivX=Bad for editing... for many reasons I won't go into.

now you have a reason to use DVDdecrypter [or DVD Shrink for a free ripper that's still distributed

]. If you insist on using that ripper to get your source, you should convert the parts you want to lagarith .avi's using vdub. The files will be large, but all source files should be large... it ensures quality transfer, and frame accuracy.

Actually, you can choose other codecs instead of DivX like HuffYUV and Lagarith.

I hated #1 DVD Ripper and I bought a license.

If you don't want to use DVD Decryptor, us FAB DVD or whatever it's called. Makes life SOOOOOO much easier.

But if you can choose Huff or Lag, do one of them... however, the file will be MONSTROUSLY big. Like... 3+ gigs or around there.

And about being illegal... don't forget that making and distributing AMVS is technically illegal as well.

alright, once it is in huff or lags, you can use those for editing. Probably don't make too many source clips since volume will start to accumulate like Krisqo mentioned.

I don't know if it retained the quality or interlacing, but if you need to tweak the footage, skip the indexing, cause that's only needed for .vob's, however, you will still need to open through a directshow .avs file for vdub to read:

make a new folder>>put your lags or huff .avi in that folder>>create a new text file within that folder>>in the text file, type directshowsource("yourlags/huff.avi")>>save>>change the file extension* from .txt to .avs>>open the .avs file in vdub>>go to script editor and make whatever changes/tweaks you need

*show extensions in windows explorer by going Tools>>Folder Options>>view>>uncheck 'hide extensions for known file types')
