MAKEMKV DVD..

Post by necromancer » Mon Dec 10, 2018 9:58 pm

Hi there it's been a while since I've edited anything and just got my editing rig... process seemed to changed a little so im trying to figure out the process again.. specifically after I convert Dvd/BluRay to MKV.... I starting with Dvd to MKV first...I was trying to follow the guide https://www.amv101.com/guides/preparing ... ndling-dvd but at I. Decrypt DVD with MakeMKV step 3 im lost since none of that information shows "stream" so as a simple minded bafoon i can be i just went ahead to convert to MKV as i dont see anything else... but im kinda lost on where to go from here...

Do I throw the MKV in DGindex then create a script to throw into Virtualdub to clean image/convert to avi or am i skipping like ten things lol?

Please Disregard I did a combination of looking at guide https://www.animemusicvideos.org/guides/avtech31/ & https://www.amv101.com/guides/preparing ... ng-blu-ray and figured things out ;)

The stream button is one of those ones at the top, just hover your mouse over them to find which one it is. I would recommend getting the VOBs as using those will prove to be more reliable than the same data in a MKV container.

Can you get .vob files from a DVD using MakeMKV ? I am using version 1.12.3

I'm following the guide here: https://www.amv101.com/guides/preparing ... snZtW6LKUF

Like necromancer, I get stuck on step 3. There is no option to Stream and no disc with curved red lines above it.

This post on Reddit says that this feature has been removed from newer version of the program. Is this so?

I downloaded an older version of the program (v1.12.3) that DOES have it! But trying to use it, I get this popup and the stream does not ever begin. Clicking okay and proceeding anyway isn't an option.

People hint at a workout that makes this feature unnecessary but it's spoken about in hushed tones and a secret language I don't understand.

I just want a .vob file that I can throw into DGIndex, that's how I learned to do this back in the day.

It does appear they removed that feature, unfortunately that means you'll need to just export the feature as a MKV instead, it will basically work the same way except DGIndex will not be able to extract the audio.
