still resolution problems

Post by Cagbagger » Sat Jan 25, 2003 2:28 am

ok, i've posted another topic on here about a few weeks ago talking about my monitor having resolution problems in lower resolutions than 800x600. i no longer think this is a monitor problem, but a frames per second problem. For instance in game play, i.e. counterstrike, when there is a lot of gunfire, or just movement in general, (especially smoke grenades), my ping goes skyrocketing and my computer almost freezes up, and switches from one frame to the next every like 5 seconds. Since i have dsl, i know that my internet connection is not the problem.

I'm currently running a 700 mhz duron processor, 256 mb of ram, and an All in Wonder 8500dv 64 mb graphics card, with the vga adapter, since i don't have a dvi plugin for my monitor.

If someone could please help me, i'd be indebted to them. i'm not sure if it's a problem with the specs, if i need to upgrade my processor or what....i'm just not sure.. thank you
me love anime.......yes.......

Have you tried the latest ATI drivers, catalyst ones ?

Also even with DSL your games can still lag unless you have a good ping.

Do you notice these problems in games offline? If you don't then it's a connection issue :|

Good ping is between 50 - 100ms. Anything above that and it will start to get choppy.

I'd update the drivers/ Bios (of your card... but the motherboard bios won't hurt to be upgraded too) DirectX, Windows than ask at www.rage3D.com

:P

When I would play TFC (HL Mod) I'd get 220MS+ pings, but those were on UK servers. (I don't know why I would play on them, I just did..)

Plus 20FPS
