What is a good VIVO card?

Post by Eek-1 » Mon Nov 01, 2004 9:07 am

my geforce256 is breaking it needs replacement.

I'm thinking of getting HIS 9550 VIVO coz it's very cheap, but if someone can tell me how well it captures video that'll help a lot, otherwise recommend me another good VIVO card. thx.

I forgot to mention that I'm using a Duron 750mhz. Will I be risking drop frames if I capture video via a Rage Theatre chipset-based card (ie. Radeon 9550)?

. I'm not having too much luck with VIVO's either, but there is a limitation
with the Picture-Capture-Size on Computers with anything less than 1.8gig
Processers.
. I believe, and still do believe, that the KEY to a good Capturing System
requires pleanty of RAM and a quick Hard-Drive 8-)

I've passed the standard memory & harddrive rpm requirements, thx. I'm just a bit concern about the minimum processor speed to do smooth capture in dvd-res, although I read somewhere in Newegg the minimum is 500Mhz for mpeg2 capture.

Not much luck with VIVO? What are?

. I'm using the ATI Radian line of Capture Cards; 7200, 9800 series.
I have to admit that they do not overload my hard drive with the Captures,
but the over-all quality `just isn't there!
a) everything seems to look washed-out!
b) my processer doesn't seem to be used for Capturing, but seems to only be
used for Playing what I've Captured ( that's a good thing. )

. I'm actually kinda surprised that no one else has made a suggestion on this post.

. out of curriousity ... what size Video Picture is giving you problems?

I can't say I have a problem since I don't have one yet. I'm asking here coz I need to find out what card can capture 640x480 smoothly on my Duron750. I'm considering either a TV tuner or a VIVO/All-In graphic card. I rather the latter, my current card is breaking.

So that means the card can capture just fine even on a low-end system. That's really a good news.

I'd like to know more about this. Could you show me a sample? Thanks.
