AIW 9800 and Converting VOBs to AVI?
My wifes computer and mine are pretty much the same with the exception that she uses a ATI 9800 Pro and I use the AIW 9800 Pro. The problem is that I can't seem to rip VOBs to AVI format so that I can edit them with Premiere. No matter what we do we can't get it to work but if I do the same thing on hers, they work fine.
Does anyone have any idea on whats going on? Is there a different way to do it that I'm missing?
Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

why not just use her computer
or u could rip the vobs then convert them to avi. and besides i dont think the vid card has anything to do with ripping dvd's

I have been using her computer but it starts to become a problem if she is in the middle of something and I need to her to convert something, espcially if she is already doing her own. Then if she isn't using it, my son is playing on it.why not just use her computer

The systems are just about exactly alike, with the exception of the Video Cards is the only thing that I can figure on why it wouldn't convert. I started from scratch doing the exact same thing she does and everything works on hers, but not mine. All the files are in the correct places that match the paths on the .avs, etc files I'm using. Here are the specs and what we've been doing, maybe there is something I'm missing but so far the only differences I've seen is our Video Card.
Her System:
Pentium 4 2.8 GHz
ATI 9800 Pro 128 MB RAM
1 GB Mushkin 2-2-2 DDR3200
GigaByte GA-8IK1100 Motherboard
My System:
Pentium 4 2.8 GHz
ATI AIW 9800 Pro 128 MB RAM
1 GB Mushkin 2-2-2 DDR3200
GigaByte GA-8KNXP Motherboard
Using Software:
Windows XP Professional
Adobe Premiere
DVD Encrypter
DVD2AVI
DVD to AVI Directions:
1) Open DVD Decrypter
2) Select footage and choose Decrypt
3) Open DVD2AVI program
4) Open VOB file
5) Make sure these settings are correct:
Colour Space - YUV
YUV -> RGB - PC Scale
6) Select "Save Project"
7) Save it as a d2v file (should be default)
8) Create a notepad file and put the follow text into it:
SetMemoryMax(10)
LoadPlugin("C:\Program Files\AMVapp\avi filters\MPEG2Dec3.dll")
LoadPlugin("C:\Program Files\AMVapp\avi filters\Decomb.dll")
MPEG2Source("path to the d2v file you just made")
Last line should look something like this:
MPEG2Source("C:\SAIYUKI_6\VIDEO_TS\ending.d2v")
9) Name the file the same as the d2v file, just change the extension to .avs
10) Open Premiere, then open the .avs file in Premiere.
11) Export the .avs file into a .avi file using Premiere and you're gtg!

the only thing that affects the dvd ripping is the cpu, ram, mobo, hdd and dvd rom. so the only thing i can think of is your dvd rom or hdd is diff. its most likely your dvd rom drive thats the problem

Both of us are using Western Digital 120 GB SATA Drives and Plextor 708X DVD-RW. Like I said before the the only real difference between the systems is the Video Card. The Motherboards are different, her's is a step below mine but they both have the same capabilities, mine just handles the memory better and is slightly faster timing than hers.

Perhaps you could say what step of the process is malfunctioning, what kind of error messages you're getting, etc...
