Code 19!

Post by TokyoU15 » Wed Feb 26, 2003 1:40 am

Ok, recently my PC decided to give me shit once again, this time I have no clue what the hell is wrong with it. My DVD-Rom and CD-RW drives are not displaying under my computer.

When I open up device manager, both the drives have an exclamation mark. When I double click them, they both say:

Your registry might be corrupted. (Code 19)

I've tried uninstalling it using the add/remove hardware and then reinstalling it, but no go. Any ideas? I'm running Win2k on this machine.
Thanks in advance.

your registry is probably fucked real bad.

If it says "your registry is probably corrupted" it should read "Windows is shit. This is evidenced by the fact that its creator, Bill Gates, is a tool and through me, his creation, has just ass-raped your system. Sorry, but its time to clean-slate and start again! have a nice life!"

or i could be wrong.

I had the same thing happen on my old compaq (damn piece of shit).
Problem: The IDE controllers were going bad.
Solution: ATA 133 card.

You could try it, I can't promise you have the same probelm I had. In order to fully diagnoce a FUBAR of that maganitude some tests would have to be run first.

You could try norton system works or some other program that finds registry errors. But if that doesnt work I would say a fresh install would be best...

a quick google search suggested the following solutions:

http://www.jsifaq.com/SUBH/tip3700/rh3766.htm

http://www.annoyances.org/exec/forum/wi ... 1007380709

The second one seems the best option, but either could work.

Another page suggested that if you have recently installed Nero to uninstall it.

similar thing happened to me when i installed DVDit. I had to reformat to fix it. You have to be real carfull the order you install things. I just installed progs in a different order and it was fine.
