External drives are cheap too (~$66 for a DVD-/+RW). Or you could stick an internal DVD-ROM drive (~$17) into an external USB 2.0 drive enclosure (~$25). :wink:

So it depends much on the ripper. Because Smartripper (which I use) requires to "unlock" (means play) a DVD first before it can rip. Didn't know that other rippers (DVDDecrypter?) can do it with out. In that case the autoplay function must be disabled.
