I wouldn't get a monitor at anything less than 1600x1200. If you can't shell out the $500 for an LCD that can do this, go with a CRT that can.
If your hard drive doesn't spin at 10,000 RPM or higher, there's absolutely no reason to use SATA. Stick with ATA100, it's only about ten dollars cheaper but won't slow you down at all.
Also, NVIDIA SUCKS.
