You probably have to check your BIOS.
When your computer starts up, and you get the little message "press DEL to enter setup" (usually del) do it.
this will take you to the bios menu.
Go to the IDE tab/button/menu and scan for hard drives, there may be a function that does it, if not then set everything to AUTO and let the computer scan it.
If your computer finds it, well and dandy.
If your computer does NOT find it then you may have to mess with your cables, or jumper settings.
If you have never installed a hard drive before, you should probably get some help. If you don't have a disk for moving your data to the new drive then you'll need to make some informed decisions.
Luck.

glad your problem is fixed. I'm not calling you a 'tard. It's just that a lot of people don't know anything at all about bios, and it's easy to screw up a computer using it. So I took the safe road and said be careful. Sorry if that offended you.madmag9999 wrote:the computer found it its just that windows did not recognize it becouse it was not windows formated. but it all works fine now so theres no need to post here again. o and btw i built my comp so im not like computer retarded or anything
