Can this card capture video

Post by varxtis » Mon Sep 20, 2004 9:36 pm

OK, I have this simi-new video card and I have plugged in the s-video cord from a tv source to the back of the card. But nothing is happining and I cant finding anything in settings and when I use Vdub to capture, it says "No Capture Driver Available"
Card Specs:
Nvidia GeForce FX 5200
128 MB DDR AGP 8x/4x
VGA/TV-Out

someone told me that even though it says VGA/TV-Out... as long as it has the s-video in the back, I should be able to get a program (or even the card settings) to capture what I have plugged into it.
Was this a bunch of BS
and what is a Newer card that I can use that features REALLY good quality, and the ability to capture. Also, is it bad to switch a computers video card from one brand to another? (IE nVidia to ATI)

I don't see "RCA In" or "Capture" or anything like that anywhere in those specs. :?

But as I don't know a thing about video cards (I use <s>an integrated card</s> integrated video myself), I don't know which ones do offer capture capabilities.

Reminds me of this old Gateway I had. The only thing made by them when it died was the case. Bah, I'm getting off topic. As it's been said, there's no way to capture video with it. Video cards, (Unless you're using a integrated type) generaly go in one direction, out. And I don't think nVidia makes a capture sort of card anyway.
