Suggestions for Analog->DV converter

I've been asked to help create a highlight DVD of a longtime high-class soccer player's career. He's got on the order of 500 VHS and SVHS tapes of almost every game he's played in, dating back to the late 1980s.

So I'm looking for a device that will let me connect Composite and S-Video to my brand-spanking-new PowerBook's Firewire port with the least quality loss, given the source is likely to be not too great to begin with. I've found a few possibilites, and I'm wondering if anyone who's used one of them or something similar can give me some insight as to what to choose.

The Miranda DV-Bridge Pro seems like a bit overkill for this project, and is expensive as heck.

The Formac Studio TVR looks interesting, though I'd prefer something both PC- and Mac- compatable, in case I need to do this stuff on a PC, too.

Pinnacle's Studio Moviebox DV looks excellent at a good price, though I'd like to hear from somebody that's used one.

Canopus makes the ADVC110, ADVC100, and ADVC55, all of which look interesting, though pricey.

Can anyone suggest one or something else I haven't found yet?

Thumbs-up for the ADVC-100. Although today I'd probably get the ADVC-110 which appears to be the same thing except that it gets its power from the Firewire port. (Note: this may not be a good option with a Powerbook or any other laptop.)

ADS Tech also makes a DV capture device:

Adaptec also makes some capture devices, but they may only do MPEG2, not DV.

I'll add my recommendations to the ADVC-100, it's an excellent product. Just plug it in and it works exactly as advertised. It's pricier, but it's a very well done product.
