Need a recommendation for a good site to buy components.

Post by Chaos Angel » Tue Jan 06, 2004 12:55 pm

Ok. I got off the phone with the guy working on my computer. He says that the motherboard is shot because of a short in the video card, and he recommends a new video card, motherboard, and power supply.

I am going to look around and see where I can get good deals on these things, but another option my mother and I came up with is to just get a new computer entirely and pay it off in increments per month.

Any of you know of a good place where I could get either inexpensive components or an inexpensive computer that can be paid off monthly? We already tried Dell.com, and they rejected me for monthly planning. Somehow, I have big credit card debt despite barely ever using it (I only remember using it for a $100 PS1 and random gas back in 2001-2002). My mom says the big debt is due to interest charges.

FUCK CREDIT CARDS!

Anyway, if anyone knows of a place with inexpensive components or inexpensive computers that won't turn me down for monthly payment, please let me know. Thanks.

Although I too use pricewatch, I'm thinking you wanna buy all from the same store to save on shipping and well..security reasons (i.e. multiple packages and multiple credit card stuff).

I'd recommend www.newegg.com

They're usually pretty low on all components and although not the cheapest on *all* components, I can almost guarantee that the total price with shipping will be comprable.

Newegg's prices have been on the rise as of late >_> <_<. I've never had problems with pricewatch places, besides slow service one time...(two weeks to get a stick of ram).

Newegg is top notch tough, they'll usually have the parts to you in a matter of a few days. Order it on Monday and you'll probably have it Wednesday.
