MJPEG>.<?!

Is it an ok codec to use, because when i first used vegas i noticed it wasnt very compatible with wmv. so i was forced to use avi. and the first codec i used was LEAD mjpeg but i heard it was a lossy codec so i tried huffy and lagarith out of those lagarith worked for me the best but it still slowed down my editing, not as much as divx or xvid tho, but when i edited with a LEAD MJPEG it went as smooth as milk, now recently i discovered Lossless MJPEG and it works as smooth as well but takes up more space, so im wondering if its ok to use Lossless version of MJPEG instead of lagarith or huffy
