Converting .rm files to .mpg and difficulties with avi files

Post by Kanina-Hecate » Wed Jun 20, 2007 2:47 pm

I know it’s impossible to import .rm files into Movie Maker and Sony Vegas but is there any way to convert an .rm file to an .mpg file?

My second question is that I’ve NEVER been able to work an avi file on Windows Media Player or Movie Maker and when I import an avi file onto Sony Vegas it only allows me the sound/music. Is there something wrong with my computer, it’s a Windows XP so could it be that I need a decoder for avi files?

Thank you for replying in advance!

Yes. There are a few ways to accomplish this task. In a roundabout way, you could in fact import realvideo into an editor using avisynth. The two main methods are as follows.

1. Super. The easier way to go. Super is an all-in-one video converter that supports RM in. Can output to about anything ever.

2. RM DirectShow filters + binaries + AVISynth/Graphedit. For this you'll need to have either RealPlayer plus the RM DirectShow filter, or Real Alternative installed. You can either use AVISynth, or GraphEdit, to convert the file then using DirectShow.

Tab. Thank you for your advice and I been having difficulties converting .avi files and my friend who I was asking the question about converting .rm to .mpg file is will be grateful too!

Orwell, excuse me?! I find your tone quite offensive. Just because I’m asking about converting .rm file to .mpg file dose NOT mean you can assume that I don’t buy like rest of you DVDs. I actually buy a ripping program. So I would advise you not be SO presumptuous!
