VirtualDubMod error help plz

when i try to compress anyanime i get this error when i choose the dvix codec thing and save it i get this error Video compression error: The source image format is not acceptable (error code -2)
and if i use regular Vdub it freezes my computer for like 20 minutes and then gets and error

Don't compress episodes David! Just compress the finished AMV. Anyway, you wanna make your episodes lagarith or huffyUV, any of the lossless codecs.

Well for one, it's lossless, so NO QUALITY will be lossed. The quality that you made it in, is the quality it's gonna stay.
2) Editing programs like Vegas, which I know is what you use, are best in lossless codecs. They won't lag at all.
