Need codec for loading Adobe uncompressed avi
Everyone says to export in uncompressed avi. Well, nothing can play the files. Windows Media Player only displays the audio, and vdub says it requires a Video for Windows compatible codec, format v210.
I've searched everywhere, and only found a decompressor called Microsoft YUVY v5.3. I installed it, but it didn't help anything.

This shit is driving me crazy. I finished my video yesterday, and all I have done, all day and night, is try to export the damn thing. Exporting in compressed avi caused Vista's COM surrogate to go haywire, and after trying various suggestions, I ended up uninstalling Divx, which fixed the problem.
Well, it turns out the Premiere can't render worth a shit, so everyone uses the uncompressed format. After much more searching, it seems that one of the requirements for using the uncompressed avi is Divx. So, I get Divx again, but now Media Player can't even play the audio on the file, and vdub has simply started giving a new error message:
The source image format is not acceptable (error code -2).

I guess the codec can wait after all. I finally just decided to export multiple huffy files, split them, and join the good parts together to make a clean version.
Looking at it, you'd never know it was a joined file, and looks beautiful in its 3GB glory, so I guess I'm happy.
Now comes the part where I have to shrink it down to org, and even convention, size. Urg.

what you want to do is export uncompressed, then take that ginormous "unplayable" file and import it into either Zarxgui/megui with the help of avisynth or Virtualdub Mod and then compress the file from there, then your computer should be able to handle the playback of the new file..
Compress with xvid: Video and your Audio OR Compress both in Zarxgui
Premiere does suck at compressing files, but at the same time so does Vegas (from what I can tell) but thats why you use something else that can handle the process better.

Ok, thanks for the info. I'm presently running my huffy file through Zarxgui, so I'll see how that turns out.JaddziaDax wrote:what you want to do is export uncompressed, then take that ginormous "unplayable" file and import it into either Zarxgui/megui with the help of avisynth or Virtualdub Mod and then compress the file from there, then your computer should be able to handle the playback of the new file..

Zarxgui couldn't load the uncompressed avi, either. PP2 has the option to export in either 10-bit or 8-bit uncompressed. Does it make a difference which one you choose?

Neither, both of those are way too low. Your monitor most likely runs at 32-bit color as an example. You're probably not exporting correctly. I don't have Pro 2.0, but in 1.5, it's export->movie, [settings] -> Microsoft DV-AVI.WesW wrote:Zarxgui couldn't load the uncompressed avi, either. 2.0 has an additional setting for Uncompressed YUVY. This is what I thought everyone was talking about.BasharOfTheAges wrote:Neither, both of those are way too low. What DV setting should I use? Besides NTSC and PAL, there is one for "DV (24p advanced)". Btw, is there any difference in quality compared with Huffy?
Also, can vdub load these files? While I was hunting around, I found a Panasonic DV codec, which shows up in vdub. It's the only DV codec that does.
