To solve the no compressor message, it should simply be an issue of enabling those formats (whichever one you're using) in ffdshow's VFW interface, which can be accessed by going to Start->Programs->ffdshow->VFW configuration*, under the Decoder tab.
Note: that's with clsid's recent builds, I know that at other times it has shown up as 'ffdshow video encoder configuration', whether in older clsid builds or in xxl's builds.

The problem is that I have also problem of ''Retrieving frame from video Stream'' if I dont' istall Indeo, Nimo's and the old Windows Codecs. I'd like to install the minimum, but maybe I do something wrong during the settings.. That I usually leave untouched.
For now I just have to make it work for some clips, then I'll format AGAIN and see what can I do from the beginning. Any further comment will be treated as gold. ^^
