.vf to .avi

I've been using my dad's "Sony Vegas Movie Studio" movie maker and the extension for the movie files are .vf. Unfortunetly, this seems to be a mildly obsure extension.
Does anyone know a converter that will recognize it and change it to an .avi?

Are you sure those are actually movie files and not just the files for the Sony Vegas Movie Studio <i>projects?</i>

If they're the latter, then you have to open them in Vegas Movie Studio and export them to AVI from there.

(This was basically the only thing that turned up when searching Filext.)

Now... excuse the stupid question for this is my first time making a video... but how does one export in avi format?

"file" -> "render"

Vegas Movie Studio has changed its name twice since it originally appeared as Sonic Foundry's Video Factory ("400 MHz processor required" !).

That's where the "vf" comes from. It's a suffix for a project file - like "veg" is for Vegas.
