How do I seperate audio from video?

I finally have the stuff I need to make AMV's but I'm really nbew to it and I don't know what to do to seperate the audio from the video so I can put my own music in there...Can someone help me? Thankyou!

What video editing program are you using? Basically all of them allow you, in some way or another, to ignore any audio from the video files you're using as source.
