AVISynth being an ass

Post by TifaStrife1984 » Wed Dec 11, 2002 8:20 pm

I'm having a real problem getting my .avs files to work. I saved a DVD2AVI project, and created an .avs file pointing to the project. Yet somehow, I'm not able to open it in either VirtualDub or Windows Media Player.

VirtualDub says it doesn't recognize .avs and MP says that my .d2v file is invalid, even though I re-created the file about three times.

nice double post N00B!

No no, not really :O I've done it before.

Well it sounds like something is wrong with the AVISynth installation if vDub won't open it :?

Are you using the AMVapp pack ? or something else.

I'd try re-installing the AMV app pack, if that fails, possibly try using DVD2AVI 1.86, instead of 1.76 ^_^

I re-loaded my AMVapp and installed the latest DVD2AVI. I tried again, but I think I know what the problem may be. I'm not sure how to load the .avs files INTO VirtualDub.

At first I was loading them like one would load an .avi or video file. That didn't work. Then I selected "Run Script", but when I do that, they only ask for .vcf, .syl, .jobs files.

I think I'm doing something wrong here, but I'm not sure what. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

AH! I've got it!

I downloaded VirtualDubAVS, which is specifically programmed to handle AVS files. It seems to be working okay.

Thanks!

Yeah :p

Well it should work with regular vDub :(

If it doesn't work in regular vDub, then it's probably not going to work in something like Premiere or media player :\ hmm

oh well, if it works, it works ;)

Good luck :O

Do you have any spaces in either your path or filename, as entered inot your AVS?

If so, that's the problem.

Vdub avs is just a mod of vdub but the file opening routines are exactly the same :|
NMEAMV: PENIS
NMEAMV: IN
NMEAMV: YO
NMEAMV: MIXED
NMEAMV: DRINK

I've never used it, so I don't know if it works differently :?

Geez, well if that's how it works then... doesn't make sense for it to work in VDubAVS and not VDub :?

All I did was in the AMVapp is copied the Example AVS file from the Examples folder and put my information in it as needed.
