DVD Project files...

Post by OmniStrata » Mon Dec 09, 2002 11:17 am

Ok, I ran into this recently...

Let's say you want to "re-edit" a video, but you deleted the vob files to "save space"...

Can the original .d2v project files (made by dvd2avi still work if you "re-rip" the dvds?

[keeping the same directory in tact, etc....]

Just wondering...

It'd be a big sacrifice efficiency-wise if you can't use the same files by a re-rip...

if you rip them the same way you did the first time it should work....i normally save ,y d2v files witha descriptiong of the chapters each one had. That way i can create it exactly. sometimes it dosn't work...but more than not it does.

You do not need to recreate the D2V files :O If the vobs are exactly the same.

If you slap the D2V file into notepad, look there for some lines it looks like

27 C:\vobdirectory\vobname.vob
27 C:\vobdirectory\vobname.vob
27 C:\vobdirectory\vobname.vob
27 C:\vobdirectory\vobname.vob

The number on the left is the total amount of bytes for the path\filename of the vob file, not including the space between the number and the pathname. Then the text next to it, is of course the location of the vob files. Just change it to the proper names/folders. Count how many characters are in the path and change the number on the far left.

Then save your wacky file.

It's worked for me. ErMaC claims it hasn't worked for him tho. So it's iffy :O I don't see why it shouldn't work.

It's worked for me as long as I keep the same directories for my files. The 27 line there is the # of characters in the path so if you change the path you have to change the # accordingly. For me, I just keep the same Directories and it works fine.
