audio stopping short

Post by chibiclam » Fri Aug 18, 2006 7:52 pm

I use Premiere 6.0, and I downloaded a song that stops short. Is there a way to stretch it out? (note I searched everywhere for this song and it's the only download I found and I don't think I can find another download of it.)

They say downloading is bad or something. Buy the CD and see if it's better?

Also, you say you want to stretch it; you need to elaborate on what you mean by that. I use Adobe Audition to edit audio, and you can use the source audio and tack it on to the end to try and make it longer (and I know there are plenty of other programs that can do this) and then fade it out. If you're too lazy to do that you can just fade out the audio without adding to the song. Premier can probably fade out audio as well, though I can't confirm that as I don't use Premier.

If you want an actual proper ending to the song, you can't really make an ending yourself unless you are a decent or better music composer (with decent or better recording stuff too) and because you're asking this question I'm assuming you're not.

Premiere can fade out audio but there's no way you can add something that isn't prt of the song. If it stops short, it stops short. You can try headphone_child's suggestion and try tweaking the end with fading copies of the last notes, or you can try his other suggestion (which is the most rational one you'll get) and buy the CD. CDs aren't that expensive, and downloading music is illegal. I'm assuming, of course, that you didn't download it from a paid service like iTunes. Because if you did, and it still stops short, then you can complain to them and demand a working copy or your money back.

That's too generalized and contradictory. Some bands offer free samples of their music, which is often an entire song from an album. Music sites, such as iTunes, which you mentioned, Napster or MP3.com sell music legitimately. This is all downloading, and it's not illegal. I won't mention the illegal stuff cause I don't want to get in trouble, or give anybody else any ideas.

I always recommend though, to just buy the CD. You get much better sound quality, pending you know how to process it, and you have a physical back-up of your audio should something happen to your audio file. Good luck.

I forgot the free distribution bands, but paid sites are there. When I say downloading music is illegal, I mean that illegally downloading music is illegal. Yes, that is redundant, but it's exactly my point. Illegal downloaders know they're breaking the law and it's my civic duty to rub it in their face.

LOL, that sounds like something Bush would say. And please, allow me to join you in your civic duty.

Unless of course it's a Japanese CD, which would range from $30 (typical album price) to $40 (plus ten for the usual shipping) :P

which is still less expensive than the get-out-of-jail-free cards you'll have to buy if they bust you. Of course, they never will, but like I already said and gangstaj8 agreed... *rub rub rub*
