Making stationary video cutouts

Post by Aneino_Kaijin » Tue May 23, 2006 9:21 pm

I know there's probably a really simple way to do this, but I can't seem to work it out.

I want to have one clip washed out in the background, then three stationary shapes or windows showing different parts of the same second clip, like they were windows through the background clip onto what's going on behind it. (Hope that even made sense) I was just going to use the clip function but I want the shapes to be irregular. Any help would be very much appreciated.

My magical glass ball fails to tell me what program(s) you're using. So a more detailed advice is impossible, not only for me. But in general it's the same in all programs: You have to use masks to cut out in irregular (or better said non-rectangular) shape.

Ahh, sorry about that. It's an older version of Premiere (and After Effects is available too, but I haven't messed much with that yet) I shall do some research into masks within those programs. Thank you very much.
