I bought a 2nd monitor hoping id be able to play a game and then while im in que (WoW bg que's) go and edit, and not miss anything on wow if something happens. One of my guild mates says its not possible due to VID mem issues, and ill **** my card up. i thought video editing relayed on RAM, CPU, Hard drive read speed, and video card helps but not in the actuall editing?
can someone clear this up for me?
Complicated question perhaps??

I'm going to asume you'se set up the monitor and got both running. GO into your video card's properties. There should be an option to run the desktop in landscape. Select that and your desktop should spread over both screens, as should your mouse and varios windows you open. Now, open WoW. If it goes into full screen, alt+enter to make it windowd. Then drag and resize the window so it fits nicely on one monitor. Open your editor and do the same on the other monitor. You should now be able to play and edit at the same time.
The video card will be afected slightly by having to run 3d windowed and 2d at the same time, but if you've got a modern card you should be fine. Shared resources suhc as ram and cpu however could be more problematic. A gig of ram should handle things well. If you've got a dual core cpu, awsome, no problems at all. But if your runing a single core, you could see lag in WoW while editing, but it should be fine once you get back to the game.

Some games will minimize themselves if they lose focus and they'll hang on to mouse focus anyway, which means that you wouldn't be able to do everything you wanted to even if you technically.The14thGOD wrote:I bought a 2nd monitor hoping id be able to play a game and then while im in que (WoW bg que's) go and edit, and not miss anything on wow if something happens. The real solution, in my opinion, is to stop playing that fucking game.
But maybe the client will be nice. It's worth a try, anyway.
