Need some help with annoying annoyingness

Post by Dark_Sesshomaru » Thu Jun 30, 2005 4:28 pm

Ive been fiddling with my audio for days but I cant figure this out.
When I play my movie, it has an annoying high pitch screech every once and a while, depending on the volume increase as the song goes...
Its really starting to bum me out T.T
Does anyone know whats going on?? :?

it's the sound quality. Make sure the mp3 you have is above 128kbps (i think) and it should sound fine.

Does it happen only with that particular movie? Or are you having this issue across everything you are playing?

Intermittent screeches tied to amplitude sound like digital distortion, they are caused by thee things,

1) Digital clipping, when the audio exceeds 0 dBu, where the length of the screech is governed by the time the audio stream remains above 0 dBu.
2) Clocking errors, sometimes when a clocking error occurs a similar sound occurs.
3) Sample rate mismatch, again a similar sound to the one you described will occur when a sample rate can not be resolved.

More likely it is the first of the three, simply because other issues would arise with the latter two. Check to make sure that when you created the movie you did not set the audio level too “hot”, if you have gain issues, see if there is a “compressor” or “limiter” function or plug-in you can apply to the audio to correct the level problems.
Perhaps more on that topic later...

Cheers. 8-)
