I doubt this will have any impact on anything to do with amv's but its good to know that some people are actualy doing something with their raging hate for microsoft.

It would be better if people avoided retarded, proprietary formats by Microsoft and just use MP3, AAC, FLAC, whatever.

Then coders could put their efforts into something more useful to man kind like help develop H264's features before the codec gets outdated in 3 years or so, rather than cracking DRM's for codecs that will be used by a niche market.

But hats off to the reverse engineers, anything that helps stop Microsoft making even more money out of people than they already do with their so called Operating Systems is fine by me.

The bad thing about hating microsoft is that your hating a company that recently anounced that its donating $750 million to help fight childhood diseases in third world contries . It kinda makes you feel guilty for hating them.

No, not really. It's the same as a mafia boss or drug dealer donting money to charity.

It would be nice, but what's the likelihood of n00bs (or jerks who want to piss everyone off or the severely misguided) doing it? And on the other side of the coin, what of those unlucky enough to be saddled with music or video that has the protection on it, whether it was a shoddy n00b encode or not. Better to be prepared, IMO.

I don't like WMA/WMV anyway (not because it's proprietary, though; just because it sucks, WMV minutely less so), but I do run across it sometimes and certainly would want to be prepared in a case where the idiot who encoded it left the DRM enabled, especially if that's the only way to get the media in question.
