Video codecs not working properly

Post by SephirothJenova » Mon Jan 10, 2005 10:20 pm

I was watching some xvid/divx files downloaded from the internet (RvB, specifically) and halfway through the series the videos won't play properly. I've been told that the problem is since I've recently installed new video codecs (Indeo codecs that I found on my graphics card CD). Can someone tell me what the problem is and how to fix it without losing some of my codecs.

Oh, and it is able to open up in VirtualDubMod, but WMP or Winamp cannot open it.

Any suggestions on what to do now?

Indeo's got nothing to do with it. If you want to make sure it's your filters and not the video files, try mplayer. It's probably the most useful backup player in creation. My filters get borked a lot from turnovers and testing, and when I wind up with a huge error, mplayer saves the day for watching while I fix shit. Anyway, I recommend ffdshow in nine out of nine cases for mpeg 4 decoding.
You've also inspired me to put links in my sig. Congratulations.
