AMVs running choppy
Hey, I've run into a bit of a dilema. Now, when I completed my most recent AMV, I noticed that it seemed to run slow or a bit choppy on some systems. To test this, what I did was play it on my Laptop, which runs fine (1.8ghz 512 DDR 2100) and my PC, which ran a bit Choppy (1GHZ 512 PC 133) . However, when playing videos such as Euphoria, Eternal Damnation, or several videos from Hypeodermic Studios, they all run clean as a whistle...
What I don't understand is that I am encoding them pretty much exactly as they do. Heres my Process:
Export from Premiere to HUFFYUV codec.
Create an AVIsynth script with smoothing and chroma filters.
Import into V-Dub and compress with 2-pass XviD.
No matter how I seem to do it, I always get complaints about how it runs choppy or not as smooth as it should be. Any suggestions? I'm about to ditch XviD altogether and go .MPG only , and I reaaallly don't want to do that. Thanks.

I've encountered such problems because I didn't set the correct parameters in the XVid encode...
ask AbsoluteDestiny, but Trythil's suggestion about packed bitstream has something to do with the XVid parameters when you encode, and you should put the right values for these, bad values can cause such problems

No, you want it disabled. As far as I know, many versions of ffdshow (mine is dated May 23, 2003) and DivX versions up to 5.1.1 cannot properly handle packed bitstreams.
To disable it, make sure that it's cleared in XviD configuration. In the XviD 1.0 release candidates for Windows you'd do this: Profile @ Level -> [more...] -> deselect "Packed bitstream" under B-VOPs.

Wouldn't blame you. I've been using MPG since I started using premiere and am just starting to tread the waters of DivX. My last video only runs right if you play it in the DivX player, so...
